book art object peek

I've finally finished - and better still - posted out my small Book Art Object edition to all other BAO folk

here's a wee piccie of the front - I'll show what's inside and chat at little about the making and thinking of the edition after I'm sure everyone has received their little book (I hope Oz Post is its usual reliable self).

I've got sooooo many things completing for my attention right now.

In only 6 days (eeeeek) I have to finish 2 largish sculptural pieces (eeeek) for Sculpture on the Edge which opens next Friday - March 5 (eeeek) in Bermagui. I've yet to finish a large piece (eeeek), which will be similar to my previous work 'ex libris', and will be displayed up on the headland of Bermagui (a fantastic site for all the sculptural works). I've also been asked to make an ephemeral fire piece especially for the opening night (which of course I haven't started yet - eeeeek!)

I'll also be taking 2 smaller works - 'ars gratia artis' and 'serpens volumen' - that will be exhibited at the small sculpture show (nice and safe inside)

If you are travelling along the glorious far south coast during the first bit of March, Sculpture on the Edge will open with fire festivities March 5 and runs until March 14. I promise I'll show some happy snaps after I have my scheduled nervous breakdown just prior to setting up time next Friday!

book complete (as is a certain booky project....)

At last I've got that art journal finished!

Its a fat little blighter - with an extra wide spine (ready to accept the extra things I KNOW I'll be sticking into/onto the pages)
Indeed I've actually included 'spacer' pages (see what looks like a cut out page below) throughout the journal so that I have extra width in the spine to allow me to stick things in to my hearts content - and still have the book close OK

The journal features simple paste paper covers and you've already seen the book block prior to casing in (they are just simple cartridge paper, with ingres endpapers). I'm happy enough with the results - I think it will prove a useful, sturdy little number (and I'm feeling quite inspired to make a few more...)

and talking of things finished - today I almost finished off my edition of 12 small books for BOA project - stay tuned in the next little bit for a sneak peek .......

rainy days

I'm so very excited that I've been forced to remain indoors - maybe for days and days and days as the rain (finally!!!) come bucketing down here at the creek  - I'm posting all my rainy day pics at my sams creek farm blog site - but the relief and excitement is almost overwhelming that its hard to think of anything else - or do anything other than watch in wonder as the wet stuff keeps falling

I started making myself a (hopefully) lovely art journal yesterday..... here's where I'm up to....

I've completed the bookblock - its a fairly substantial A4 landscape format with about 16 sections - longstitch sewn over tapes (the paper is just simple archival cartridge with ingres endpapers...it is meant to be a utility booklet after all!)

but it's just raining too hard for me to get from the house to the studio (about 20m from the house mind you!) to finish it off today

and isn't that simply the most MARVELOUS NEWS!

OMG it is simply BUCKETING down here right now - I wish you could hear the torrents of rain on my corrugated iron roof!
