spring garden...

Although the calendar marks the beginning of spring on the 1st of September
spring doesn't really arrive here at the creek until sometime in October...

acanthus and borage (and garden statuary)

 sweet pea

 floribunda rose

in the raised beds the winter vege are coming to an end and setting seed
- and bare beds wait for spring seeds to emerge

rather than waiting for the ground to warm up
this year I'm raising many seeds like tomato, eggplant, chilli and capsicum
in pots on the verandah

we have made a start on a BIG new garden project
(more about this as it emerges)

and an old favourite bursts into leaf...

acer negundo 'kelly's gold'
gives a vibrant lime blast to the early spring garden

you have everything you need. "

snakes alive...

 beside the chook pen

a reminder to always keep your eyes open

safe inside the house a less deadly creature also keeps growing and growing....

(its now nudging just over 4m in length...)

the long slow work passing in a purple haze....

"Honey-honey, hold me, baby, ah-hah, honey-honey"

Meet our newest creek resident

Honey is just 8 weeks old -
she's a yellow (aka cream) kelpie
(yes there is such a thing..... I didn't know this until a few weeks ago!)

Honey was chosen this morning from a litter of 4 pups
and given her name by our sassy-boy
to be his very own working dog

it was love at first sight

first hugs in a new home

first puppy meal made by sass

first sight of the other very big dogs of the creek
(oooooo GOODNESS!)
first hugs of reassurance

first steps alone into a big new (slightly wet) world

first sleep in a new home
(snuggled between sassy's boots on some of his old clothes
note the box decorations....)

Hopefully this is the first day of a beautiful journey together
filled with ball games and frisbee and stick fetching
and bike rides and cow herding and doggie high jump
and swimming and running
and hugs and doggy kisses

welcome to the creek honey-honey
